Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy & Athletic Training

What Can I Expect When I Come In For A Treatment?

At your first visit our therapists will perform a comprehensive initial evaluation to determine the cause of your injury/ pain and work with you to develop an appropriate treatment plan. Initial evaluations include strength tests, range-of-motion, neurological assessments, and joint specific special testing to determine origin of injury and affected structure.  Your therapist will create a specialized treatment plan that is best suited to help you return to a pain- free, pre-injury level of functioning. Treatment plans can consist of: patient education, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, aquatic therapy, modalities, and home exercise programs.

We do things differently at Fox Valley Physical Therapy! The average physical therapy and occupational therapy appointment lasts for at least one hour. You will receive hands-on, one-on-one attention from your therapist. At each appointment, your therapist will evaluate your response to treatment and make adjustments in your treatment plan if necessary. These techniques are used to reduce pain and maximize your functional capacities. Our goal at Fox Valley Physical Therapy is to motivate you and help you return to a pain-free, fully functioning lifestyle, and to provide you with the necessary tools to eliminate future complications.

Prehab

Prehabilitation

Prehabilitation is the process of optimizing physical functionality preoperatively to enable the individual to maintain a normal level of function during and following surgery.  Prehabilitation training can be a combination of aerobic exercises, specific strength training, and functional task training to suit individual needs.  The therapists at Fox Valley Physical Therapy specialize in preparing you and your body for surgery.

Cancer Prehab

Cancer patients who do rehabilitation before they begin treatment may recover more quickly from surgery, chemotherapy or radiation. Prehabilitation is commonly associated with orthopedic operations; e.g. knee and hip replacements and cardiac procedures. Now there’s a growing interest in using prehab in cancer care as well to prepare for treatment and minimize some of the long-term physical impairments that often result from treatment.

It seems intuitive that people’s health during and after invasive surgery or a toxic course of chemotherapy or radiation can be improved by being as physically and psychologically fit as possible going into treatment. Research to examine the benefits of prehab continues to show positive results.
